My name is Charlotte. I'm currently studying art, media and cultural education, and in the near future I'd like to get into art therapy. For me, art is more than just escaping reality. Art is therapy. With art therapy, I can combine art and people, thus pursuing my strengths and passion.
WHY I DO WHAT I DO
My work as an artist is about capturing people and portraying each person's unique personality. The inspiration for my artworks comes from my personal experiences as a human being. As well as from observations of a particular space I am in. I try to capture these experiences through my unique and experimental use of colour and form. I embody what makes us unique and how we fit into the world through expressive abstract form language and strong colour.
With my understanding, true portraits are different from what we can see with our naked eyes. Our portraits are abstract and are not what we look like on the outside. It is a deep dive into what our essence is. Every single one of us is abstract.
I take a playful, purist approach by focusing on pure forms and vibrant colours. I like to isolate shapes from the motifs and combine them into a new composition. I dramatise or shift the figures because I believe that this is my own way of dealing with reality and people.
